Be Suspicious Today of Anyone with Marzipan

If cake sales are up today in Idaho and Austria, the reason would be the birthday of Adolf Hitler.  According to “Entertainment Tonight“, Adolf Hitler was the celebrity spokesman for Mercedes-Benz.  At his nursing home in Argentina, the 124-year-old former fuhrer will be celebrating with a marzipan cake, shaped like the Bismarck, and Mel Gibson movies.

Not wanting to make too big a fuss over “just another birthday”, the music-loving Adolf requests that well-wishers sing either “The Ring Cycle” or this old Mercedes ad jingle:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEIm3pe5wbA&feature=related

Someone’s got the soundtrack to “Battle of the Bulge!”

I can even see Robert Shaw inspecting the young tankers . . . “Vee are beaten, Heinrich. Zee Amerikansss have fuel to send CAKES across zee ocean. Chocolate cakes, Heinrich! CAKES! Vee are kaput!”

  2. “Panzerlied” was a hit song on “Aryan Band Stand.”

Rest assured, I saved it and plan on using it somewhere during the show.

As for “The Battle of the Bulge,” the first time I saw it as a child, I kept expecting someone to tell James MacArthur “Book ’em, Dan-O.” Instead, he just surrenders to the first German he can find.
